This is a photograph of my grandfathers hands and my nieces hands. I feel that this picture is beautiful and reminds me of a mentor type relationship. I like this picture because to me, my grandfather has much wisdom from life to share and through his experiences knows just how to guide a small child through trials and tribulations. My nieces hands are soft and plush. They are so sensitive to any kind of harm or external pain; my grandfathers on the other hand are tough, calloused and large. They have many scars and so much history. It almost looks like he is protecting the hands of the small child.

And then, I turned 18 and they released me out of state custody and I had problems after that again. I ran into old friends, drugs, alcohol... I didnt really know how to pay rent or how to go about doing anything. I had difficulties up until about two years ago. I learned how to pay bills on time and how to hold a steady job all the time and how to take care of my self. I want to go to school now. I take care of my sisters daughter. Ive had her since she was 4 months and she is 5 years old now.

The skills learned when doing research papers will follow the student after they leave Whiting whether or not they go to college. As you can see there is only one bookcase in the library that has books that aren?????t textbooks. So our research is done online. There is a lot online, but students need to learn how to use a library.

The burned forest represents to me my downfalls and destructive behaviors and attitudes. So much can be ruined in a matter of hours or even minutes. The grove of aspens represents just how beautiful and elegant the same object can be. Forests can be huge and powerful, but yet, can also be small and unappealing. Wyoming is a lot cooler. I have four sisters and I don??™t like them a lot because they make me mad. My mom and step dad are cool. I like my mom more than my step dad but they??™re alright. I hang out with my friends and I hang out with my girlfriend. She??™s alright. She gets annoying sometimes. I go to the mall and skateboard. We go to the park and play soccer. At school I played football. I was a quarterback. This picture reminds me of (Treatment Center) and it??™s a cool place. There are a lot of cool staff here and the therapist, too. They are here to help me with some stuff like my anger and school. They also got me out of Juvenile Detention Center. It was not the best thing in there and I??™m glad they did. I lived in Texas most of my life. I grew up in horrible pain as did my family. My father always beat me, my brothers, my sisters and my mother. When we left my father we went to live with my Aunt and Uncle. I thought we moved to a better life. It turns out that we didn??™t. It looked as if it would get worse before it got better. The divorce was declined and I committed a crime. I am now in a treatment center receiving help for what I did. I have realized what I did was wrong and hurtful to other people. I am very appreciative of the help that I am getting. I now see the light at the end of the tunnel. I know that my life will get better from now on. This photo is how my life is setting right now, very calmly and peacefully.

I believe God brought us together for a reason. The grief and loss we have experienced as individuals and as a family have helped us to realize the importance of connection, love, and family. We are blessed to have an open adoption with our daughter?????s birth family. This allows her to have contact and relationships with a critical part of who she is. When working with adoptive families and birth families. Please recognize the importance of these relationships ????? even those that are kept silent.
